The Technology

Safecom 's next-generation powering and RF solutions improve energy efficiency and reliability throughout the network while creating significant capital and operational savings.
Unlike legacy powering solution, Safecom enables to reduce the number of power supplies in the network, eliminate batteries and UPS, while warranting double life time. Safecom's also offer cost-effective Ingress solution, eliminating Ingress at source .

Safecom's Advanced Technologies- DPSV5

The patented DPSV5 technology is an intelligent power backup system that manages utility power outages by automatically redirecting power from any remote live location on the grid via already existing network coaxial or power cables.     An always available, maintenance-free system, DPS4 is equally effective for HFC networks (where the coax infrastructure is still active) or in Deep Fiber,FTTC networks (where the coax cable is still present although no longer used).     Based on the strategic placement of power management devices throughout the network, the dual-path DPS4 reroutes power from the nearest live area – whether from utility or generators – to devices such as optical nodes, trunk amplifiers and line extender clusters in the area suffering the outage. In this way, DPS4 replaces traditional backup solutions that use costly battery/UPS that require constant maintenance, protect the network only up to 4 hours, and may cause sync lose on remote network location in cases of power outages.

DPS4's 'online' power redundancy protects all fiber nodes, trunk amplifiers & line extenders, ensuring there is no signal or data interruption during operation.  ( DPS – online test )   Additional batteries disadvantages are the performance sensitivity to weather effects, its negative effect on the environment as well as during normal mode of operation, that is when there is no power outage on the network, the DPS4 devices acting as power blocks to one another.

Boosting Power:

Safecom's Power Booster is an advanced patent pending technology solution designed to overcome the common problem of voltage drop over the network power grid. It also serves to extend the operatoinal range of the DPSv5 with which itintegrates seamlessly.  Normally installed where voltage is usually no less than 45V, the Power Booster automatically activates when there is voltage drop of more than 10%, compensating for the voltage drop at an efficacy of more than 95%. Thus it ensures that no voltage change occurs and no deterioration of service signal is experienced.    Power Booster can be stand alone device or be connected directly to the DPS4 by a single cable connection. By integrating the new Power Booster , Safecom's patented DPS4 solution recieves remote power from a significantly extended distance Increasing the powering area covered by power supply both in times of power outage and during regular service.

Measurement cabability:  DPS4 can easily be integrated with any network management system. It uses a single monitoring connector for all 4 ports and can transmit information regarding current and voltage changes in the network. This DPS4 current measurement capability enables network managers to reduce costs by predicting various problems in the network, well before equipment failure. Unstable current may indicate defective trunk amplifiers, overheating power supply, or bad contacts. These conditions are all prevented with the DPS4’s early detection systems.

DPS4s are quick and easy to install - as easily as standard passive devices - requiring no special equipment, tools, permits or skills. DPS can be installed to each zone have a local power source plus a backup power source to the next or previous amplifier depending on the architecture design. Two single 15 amp power supplies or a dual output power supply may also be used.
